How would you improve The Reserve Club at Woodside Plantation?

Troon has been selected to manage The Reserve Club at Woodside Plantation. The Reserve Club at Woodside Plantation is a private country club nestled within Woodside Plantation, a Southern Living Inspired Community located in the Carolina foothills.

The Reserve course is an 18-hole Nicklaus Design (designer: Steve Nicklaus) which boasts 7,352 yards of rolling terrain. The Hollow Creek course, designed by Masters and U.S. Open Champion Fuzzy Zoeller and architect Clyde Johnston, offers a challenging 10-hole championship layout. The Reserve Club at Woodside was opened in 2002.

In addition to golf, The Reserve Club at Woodside Plantation offers its members and guests an array of recreational and social activities:

  • 6 Har-Tru tennis courts;
  • 3 Pickleball courts;
  • croquet and bocce ball;
  • resort pool and cabana;
  • community parks and greenspace areas;
  • state-of-the-art fitness facility;
  • walking, hiking and biking trails and more.

At the center of the club is the 9,000 square-foot clubhouse. The club is currently undergoing a 17,000 square-foot expansion project, which is scheduled to open this summer. This new addition will offer members a new Bistro, Chef’s viewing area, three ballrooms, sports bar, outdoor pavilion, library, card room, brides’ room, meeting space, activities room and more.

What could The Reserve Club at Woodside Plantation do to improve customer experience?

As a sequel of to my post that I wrote yesterday about the new hotel of the PGA Catalunya Resort (Spain, EU), here I can also say that it is not enough to add another bar, restaurant, library. You must invest in proactive experiences. This means it is not enough to respond to complaints. More important is to invest in positive and shareable experiences. To earn loyalty you should invest in customer relationship like Hilton, Marriott is doing.

We should learn how technology affects decision making and behavior. This is why I like the Hilton’s approach that exploits mobile technology to provide personalized services and through that meaningful experience.

Do you think that The Reserve Club at Woodside Plantation is prepared to serve the “connected customers”??
