What can make your golf club GEO Certified?

By: September 30, 2015

PGA Catalunya Resort‘s team of greenkeepers led by course manager David Bataller (see picture below) was named as Champions of the Green for August 2015. This is not the first time that PGA Catalunya Resort attains such recognition. In 2013, the resort became GEO Certified, which is administered by the Golf Environment Organization (GEO).

Let’s see their achievements:

  • they  have managed to reduce demand on main grid supplies,
  • resource efficiency: with 100% of water used for irrigation coming from treated effluent water from nearby villages and on-site buildings, while photovoltaic panels and a geothermal heating-cooling system are also used on site.

Just here at the bottom of the page I would like to mention that PGA Catalunya Resort is not the first Spanish golf club that became GEO Certified:  the first was Centro Nacional De Golf in 2011; in 2013: La Galiana, Lumine Golf Club.
