Adare Manor, County Limerick, Ireland

The official opening of The Golf Course at Adare Manor comes after a two-year reconstruction phase. The golf course has been completely redesigned by golf course architect Tom Fazio.

He was asked to create a course that tourists would want to play on a golf trip to Ireland. They created a strategic, park-style championship venue.

The Tom Fazio team redesigned and reshaped every hole and installed 135 acres of drained, sand-capped, fast and firm, low cut turf, wall to wall. This makes it unique among the Irish golf courses.

Padraig Harrington and Paul McGinley were invited to the course to share their view on the new course design.

Some interesting facts:

  • The site was capped with over 220,000 tonnes of sand.
  • 50 miles of drainage, that’s a pipe under the ground at least every five meters on the entire course.
  • The greenkeeping team will consist, 50 people.
  • Adare Manor’s primary defense is its fearsome greens.
  • You will find just 42 bunkers in total.
