Are you ready to test the new Chee Chan Golf Resort?

By: January 2, 2018

Thailand’s new golf resort, the Chee Chan Golf Resort (in the Silverlake region south of Pattaya) was planned to open in late 2017. Now, the new target is 1st May 2018. The new golf course was designed by Golfplan. The Chee Chan Golf Resort will be a par-72, 18 hole golf course. Probably, the biggest attraction of the golf course will be the huge engraved Buddha figure in the cliff.

I have just discovered that Silverlake is a large vineyard that grows several red and white grape varieties. The vineyard was founded in 2002 by Surachai Tangjaitrong and Supansa Nuangpirom. It must have been a great challenge to turn the flat terrain in Pattaya to an undulating one and to compensate the flat terrain with creative routing.

IMG will manage the Chee Chan Golf ResortBrodie MacDonald, a Scottish national and member of the British PGA, was recently appointed general manager, joining by the golf course superintendent Mike McKenna, an Englishman. Brodie and Mike both joined Chee Chan Golf Resort from one of Asia’s top tracks, Nirwana Bali Golf Club.

Unfortunately, the developers hold their cards close to their chest. I hope in the coming months we will learn more about this new Thai golf resort.

Thai tourism industry in 2017

The Thai tourism industry had a very successful year in 2017. The country received more than 35 million international tourists (cca. 1 million tourists came from the US). This is a 10% increase over the 2016 period.
