Are we safe on golf courses?

By: December 17, 2012

Two years ago I had already written about golf insurance. Since then we have not changed a lot. Vandalism, thefts are still on the top of the list of most typical claims. Many golf course owner believe that dropping coverage on certain unlikely events will save on the insurance expense. However, this may not always be the case. Some premiums aren’t that affected. But your coverage is. Do we bear in mind the potential risk of our new services (e.g. outdoor patios, large fireplace etc.)?

We should not forget neither those accidents that golf players causing to other golfers. Do we remember the landmark court case in Scotland? The case saw a golfer awarded almost £400,000 in damages after losing the sight in one eye when he was struck by a wayward golf ball. The incident no doubt had a profound influence on the golf insurance industry when the presiding judge found the golf player who struck the golf ball 70% liable for the demages, despite shouting 'fore'. Since then Golf Care's sales grew by 29.7%. It is interesting to see how golf cart insurance and golf equipment insurance are "popular" in Google searches.

The little devil asks from inside where from Golf Care grew by 29.7%? What is the value of these insurance policies? As we know there was a great decline in value between 2007 and 2010 in the British insurance market in general and I can imagine the golf insurance segment felt it very badly. Therefore I think it is wise step from Golf Care to cooperate with golf pro shows like American Golf or leading golf equipment e-commernce portals like Direct Golf UK.
