How far Titleist Pro V1 can go?

By: January 28, 2013

Titleist Pro V1 and Titleist Pro V1x are the market leader golf balls for almost a decade. This happened despite the critics on these golf balls' durability, distance and side spinning. The durability problem can be due to the cover material (urethane elastomater). A typical problem with high spin rate golf balls like Titleist Pro V1 (or Srixon Z Star or Callaway HX Tour) is the distance. The high spin rate will get the ball higher off of the tee due to increased backspin but will result in less roll when it hits the ground.

These problems were answered quite well by Titleist on their discussion board.

2013 Pro V1x Construction
It seems to me Titleist is still working on the above mentioned issues regarding Titleist Pro V1 and Titleist Pro V1x golf balls' performance. They could only claim about 2013 Titleist Pro V1 and Titleist Pro V1x golf balls that they are:

  • longer lasting durability;
  • more consistent performance;
  • improved Urethane Elastomer cover;
  • and outstanding spin control.

I think these terms are pretty broad. I would need more specific data to be able decide, judge how much they imporved. We shall see how accurate are these claims. The 2013 Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls will be available in golf shops in the UK and Europe from early March, 2013.
