Can the Wilson Staff D300 Irons win the competition?

By: January 9, 2017

I have waited so long to be able to share with you the latest Wilson Staff golf equipment news. The new Wilson Staff D300 irons will be available from January 23rd in the US. I assume, here in Europe, we will have to wait a couple of weeks to see them as part of a demo-day or in the stores.

The new Wilson Staff D300 Irons will be available with brand new KBS Tour 80 steel and Matrix Speed Rulz A-Type 54 graphite shafts (4-9, PW, GW both RH and LH), along with Wilson Staff Tour Traction grips.

What are the 3 innovations in the Wilson Staff D300 Irons?

If I want to answer you briefly, then:

  1. FLX Face Technology,
  2. Power Holes and
  3. Heel-Toe Weighting.

Wilson Staff believes that the new generation of FLX Face Technology allows 76% of the face to be completely free from the body. It also minimizes contact points between the thin face and clubhead to generate greater clubhead speed and distance. This is not a new innovation. We can find it also in Wilson Staff C200 irons (“C” stands for crossover) as well, just like the Power Holes.

Michael Vrska, Global Innovation Director of Wilson Golf said that FLX FACE™ and Power Holes (Filled with TE031 Urethane, the power holes allow the face to flex upon impact for extreme distance.) have been refined specifically for the ‘D’ or ‘Super Game Improvement’ player to provide significant distance and accuracy improvements.”

It seems like, that the only new innovation in Wilson Staff D300 irons is the Heel-Toe Weighting (combined weight 60 grams).

A six-way adjustable hosel (including three draw options) covers loft settings from 8° to 14° in half degree increments and three adjustable sole weights allow players to attain their ideal launch angle, ball speed and spin rate. Loft options are available in 9.0°, 10.5° & 13.0°.
